Climats Du Coeur

Dear friends,

Aubert de Villaine and I want you to know about Climats-du-Coeur,.an exceptional project that we are both deeply involved in, to raise money for the poor in Burgundy. Historically, we Burgundians have been very happy to donate our bottles and our time to charities all over the world, and this will always continue, but the need is so great at home that we decided to take action and invite our friends to help us here.

Climats-du-Coeur brings together eight domaines who have agreed to work as ‘duets’:

  • Gevrey Chambertin, Domaine Dujac and Maison Faiveley
  • Vosne-Romanée, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Maison Drouhin
  • Meursault, Domaine Roulot and Maison Latour
  • Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Leflaive and Maison Jadot

We will produce only 1,000 cases each containing four magnums – one per ‘duet.’ We will only do this once (it is not intended to be repeated), so you can imagine that we feel very fortunate to be working with grapes from the extraordinary 2009 vintage. We won’t bottle the wines until late next year, but we started an internet pre-sale in June and the response was wonderful.

I should note that these grapes, all of which are 1er Cru, have been donated not only by the eight ‘duet’ domaines, but also by some of the best growers in Burgundy. This is truly a widespread collaboration, and in fact, even the packaging materials and other production components have been donated. There is excellent information at www.climats-du-coeur.com.

Additionally, we shall bottle 25 jeroboams of each wine to be sold at auctions trough the world. If you know of any important auction in your country that would support the project kindly contact me (Veronique@drouhin.com) so we can discuss details.

Thank you in advance for your support and the help you can provide to let the world know about this one time great charity.

With our best regards

Véronique Boss-Drouhin and Aubert de Villaine
